Program

An evening dedicated to the art of Lied and Opera, delivered by three talented artists of the young generation. The program includes pieces by composers like Mozart, Schumann, Brahms, Ravel, Korngold, Sondheim etc., presenting some of the finest works of the voice repertoire alongside some lesser known gems!

Lucas Cortoos – bariton 

Bariton Lucas Cortoos is jong solist (MM Laureate) bij het operahuis De Munt. Hij vertolkte er de rol van Ivan Ivanovich, Cab Driver en Speculant in Nos van Shostakovich, Journalist in Lulu van Berg en Guccio in Gianni Schicchi van Puccini. Tijdens de zomervakantie maakte hij zijn debuut op de Bregenzer Festspiele als Le Bailli in Werther van Massenet. Hij zong als solist met o.a. het Wiener Symphoniker, het Symfonieorkest van de Munt, het Symphonieorchester Vorarlberg, het Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt, het Liepāja Symphony Orchestra,… Dit seizoen volgt zijn solo-debuut bij Opera Ballet Vlaanderen in Die sieben Todsünden van Kurt Weill. Naast zijn internationale solocarrière, zet hij zich in om kinderen een eerste opera-ervaring te bezorgen. Zo zong hij de rol van Mr. Hoppy in Un amour de tortue met het Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, de Sprinkhaan in Een lied voor de maan met de Munt en tourt hij door België met Opera Caramba in de producties Carmen, De Toverfluit en vanaf 2024 La Traviata. In 2019 behaalde hij zijn master klassieke zang met grootste onderscheiding aan het conservatorium van Antwerpen waar hij les volgde bij Gary Jankowski en Lucienne Van Deyck. Daarvoor behaalde hij een master cello aan het Lemmensinstituut te Leuven. Momenteel vervolmaakt hij zich als zanger bij Angelique Noldus.

Hij is prijswinnaar van het 31e Internationaler Gesangswettbewerb Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg 2022 en won de publieksprijs en de speciale prijs ‘Inga Kalna’ voor jonge belofte op de International Vocal Competition Alida Vane 2018 in Letland. Samen met Tom Van Bogaert is hij oprichter van het reizend gezelschap Opera Present.

Herlinde Van de Straete (°1999) is een mezzosopraan uit Antwerpen. Ze is een veelzijdige zangeres met een specifieke interesse voor klassiek muziektheater, hedendaagse composities en interdisciplinaire projecten. Naast nieuwe creaties heeft ze ook een hart voor het delicate lied-genre, vocaal ensemble en kamermuziek.

Herlinde begon haar muzikale pad in 2004 met viool en ontdekte via koorzang haar liefde voor zingen. Ze rondde in juni 2023 haar masterstudies af aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Antwerpen bij Anne Cambier. Verder volgde ze hier liedklas bij Lucienne van Deyck en Aäron Wajnberg, hedendaagse zang bij Els Mondelaers en volgde ze masterclasses en cursussen bij o.a. Malcolm Martineau, Hans Eijsackers en Claron Mcfadden, Martin Hellström en Joseph Middleton. Ze speelde reeds mee in verschillende (opera)producties van het KCA en Muziektheater Transparant, waaronder haar eigen afstudeerproject Aus den Visionen. Ze was reeds te gast op O. Festival voor Opera. Muziek. Theater. in Rotterdam en op events van de European Opera Academy en zingt in vocaal ensemble Duartes.

Anna Alvizou was born in Greece. She has obtained a Bachelor’s degree with the highest distinction from the Ionian University, from the class of Piano Performance of Professor Lambis Vassiliadis. She continued her studies in Germany in the Musikhochschule Trossingen in the class of Lied Pianist Peter Nelson where she obtained two Master’s degrees, one in Piano Performance and one in Lied accompaniment, both with the highest distinction. Since 2014 she has been accompanying singers in concerts, lessons and masterclasses. She continued deepening her knowledge in Lied and Opera repertoire at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp with pianists Jeanne-Minette Cilliers and Aaron Wajnberg. She has worked as a singers’ accompanist in the Musikhochschule Trossingen and in the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, accompanying mainly in the classes of Andreas Reibenspies and Gary Jankowsky. In April 2022 she was selected to participate in the Masterclasses of the International Lied Festival Zeist with her lied-duo partner, and in 2023 they won the prize of the best performance of the compulsory piece of the competitive section of the same festival. She has actively participated in masterclasses by some of the most renowned Lied artists like Elly Ameling, Robert Holl, Roderick Williams, Malcolm Martineau, Maciej Pikulski, Hans Eijsackers and Joseph Middleton. In November 2022 she participated in the Triomphe de l’art international music competition in the Lied-duo category and was awarded with the ‘’best lied pianist’’ special prize. She has performed Lied concerts in Germany, Greece and Belgium. Future performances include Lied recitals with soprano Katharine Dain, in organizations such as the Antwerp Lied Festival among others.
